Finding balance

I worked on my novel today. I did. Sure, it was only 15 pages. But it was a good 15 pages of revisions.

And then I spent a few hours with my shiny new video game. And it was a good few hours.

I'm all about finding balance in my life these days. Yes, I know I need to get this book revised and out the door. And I will. But sometimes, I work so hard at it that I forget to live my life. And that, dear friends, is about to end.

I hereby commit to having a little fun now and then. So there.

Also, I have some housekeeping to take care of. Two of my dear blog friends gave me a couple of awards while I was out the country, and I wanted to take the time to acknowledge them and thank both Wendy and Christi.

Christi, whose superb blog is found at http://christigoddard.blogspot.com/, gave me the Creative Writer Award.

Wendy, whose equally superb blog can be found at http://quillfeather-blog.blogspot.com/, gave me the Quillfeather Award.

I'm honored. I really appreciate them both. Thank you.

And now I'm going to crash. I'm still beat and trying to recover from last week, so please forgive my rather abrupt post. I promise to do better tomorrow.

  1. You are most diplomatic, good sir.

I think you've got it right by the way. Indeed, we all need to smell the roses/coffee - play video games - or whatever takes our fancy. I like digging my toes in the sand and drinking wine. Both at the same time if possible.

    Enjoy your downtime :)

  2. 15 pages is nothing to sneeze at. As long as you don't give up, you're doing great.

    Congrats on the awards!

  3. Well hell at least you're at the editing stage. I haven't edited since 8th grade. Then writer's block hit in. Then I hopped from novel to short story to short story to novel to short story to what I'm on now, and I intend to finish this one, goldarnit. And seriously man, 15 pages is good progress, especially at the editing stage, cos we all know just how much of a chore that can be.

  4. Oh sure. "Only" 15 pages. Only? ONLY? For that I should kick you through the computer.

    ;-)
