Strep throat and Zombieland

Well, the little guy has strep throat. We took him to the doc today since he's been sick and running a fever all weekend. Yep, his yearly bout of strep.

I'm a little concerned since I'm leaving early Saturday for Mexico for a week -- and there ain't no doctors where we're going! The pediatrician says if I'm going to get it, I should know within 24 hours. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Especially since the mission trip is already paid for -- and non-refundable.

I'm heading over to a friend's house tonight to watch Zombieland. I've heard it's pretty good. It's a man date, since there will be three of us and no women (they're out for the evening). Okay, that sounded a little weird. But you know what I mean -- lots of belching, farting and junk food. Mmmmmmm.

I did nothing on the manuscript today. I'm ashamed to say that I used the kid's illness as an excuse to screw around online all day. Since he's going to be home tomorrow, I might just do it again. But I know that, at some point, I need to put the pedal to the metal. It's just that with the trip looming, it seems like there's a lot of loose ends to tie up. (Wow. Did you hear that little whine in my writing voice?)

I'll let you know tomorrow how Zombieland was. Even if the movie sucks, the company will be good and really, that's all that matters.

Later, taters.

  1. I'm anxious to hear about Zombieland and maybe you should just take the whole week off. You'll be working hard in Mexico and when you get back you can go full tilt on the book. Yes, I'm the bad devil on your shoulder!

  2. Marty,
The way things are lining up this week, I'll probably end up taking most of it off. There's just too many things to get done. And really, it may be a blessing in disguise. I've been too close to the manuscript for too long. A little space will be a good thing.

  3. Poor little guy. I had strep ALL the time when I was little, so now certain antibiotics don't work on me anymore. I hope you don't get it, and have fun in Mexico.

  4. I hate zombies and typically won't watch movies about them, but I kinda want to watch that one. Looking forward to your take on it. (Hope you don't get sick...)

  5. Man date is fine. If you end up with a man-crush, I'll start to wonder ;-)

Never seen zombieland, but how can you go wrong with a movie who's "kill of the week" winner was a sweet little church lady with a piano?

  6. Ok, Zombieland totally rocked! If you don't mind a lot of gore and some really dark humor, you must see this movie. It's fricking hilarious!

  7. Okay, too fuckin' wierd. My daughter and I laid in bed today because she wasn't feeling good. We watched Zombieland. I saw it in the theater but she really wanted to see it so we watched that and another movie.

That movie does totally rock! I think Woody Harrelson is the only one who could have pulled that off.

Good healing vibes sent to the kid, hope he's feeling better soon and no worries; you won't get it. (Yes, I have a crystal ball).

  8. Zombieland was great. I've been recommending it to everyone. Not a good movie to watch while you're eating though- found that out the hard way.
Scarlet Fever after the round of antibiotics to clear up the strep throat has been going around here. You might watch out!
By the way, love the hat (each of my sons have at least one name that comes from a Cub's player)
And checking out you genre, I have to ask... Have you read Frank Peretti's books? Love him!
